But soft, the night is falling down...

It was like a cheap detective novel. The night was dark, with barely a sliver of moon. The drizzling rain added to the lack of visibility.

Between them, the dark and the weather hid the tall figure from casual sight. At least, until the glowing yellow eyes were pointed in one's direction. Those eyes scanned the area dispassionately, ensuring that the scene was as abandoned as it looked.

Except for the pathetic remains of a sixteen year old girl, the park looked almost pristine. Only an overturned bench gave the lie to that illusion.

Black brows against a dark red forehead lowered and a silent snarl formed as Nodachi studied the mutilation of the young woman dead at his feet. She had obviously suffered, and there was some sort of arcane symbol gouged into her forehead. Almost as disturbing was a playing card tucked into the mess of her body. Plainly visible was the laughing head of a Joker.

Unexpectedly, the Chaos of his being swirled in his head.

~Eat it, no one will know!~

*Punishment! Vengeance! Retribution!*

Shuddering with effort, the demon drove back his nature with and effort of will and the hard won discipline of his art. The golden dragons etched into the katanas on his back flared as he put himself through mental exercises to re-establish his calm. After a time, the voices... beings... things, who knew, were quiet again.

Looking down at the symbol on the teenager's forehead, Nodachi felt the unfamiliar emotion of worry at what might be loose in the rainy dark of Millenium City.
